No she has not. She will say papa if we ask her to and she will say mama the same. She also says Leah and CaCa for Cate... but only when we ask. She has not said anything because she wants to... by this time home, Isaac was totally fluent in English. Isaac was non verbal as well when he came home at 5 and and half yrs... he will be 13 in April. We have been teaching some sign language to her but she again only does it when we tell her or ask her to....not sure why except we have a sense that something very negative has happened to her in her past... we have thought that since we met her in July.
WOW! She looks so pleased too! I know I cried when Z put on his glasses at almost 7 years old and cried in amazement "mama, I can see!". Praying she begins to initiate communication and for her continued bonding and healing in your family. God bless!
Jeane, you should visit nogreaterjoymom.com. She has a 9 year old, adopted 1 1/2? years ago that is non verbal. It's just interesting, as they don't know why she isn't talking.... They are adopting 2 from Ukraine through RR... Violet and Sophia
