Happy Birthday to our sweet Selah Elizabeth- Stella

Today is our sweet Selah's birthday...I wish we could celebrate it with her at home....still waiting on the embassy in Ghana ( for no good reason either) other than that they can delay as long as they like...We only need our visas packet request to pick up. They have had our documents - which is just the I 600 approval now for weeks. They keep sending a ridiculous sounding "form" email back to our agency and it does not even answer the question being asked... which is a way of just delaying... So many times in the adoption journey we have seen this need of some authority to express that they have some power over the adoption of a child joining the loving family that is waiting for them. It happened to us in Bulgaria- and we even requested some help because of Andrew's medical needs... It is so hard to understand why but we have a peace about the timing this time because we know the kids are relatively healthy and in a place ( foster care) that is taking care of them until we return...but it would be nice to have them home...Everything is done... just waiting for the visas...
At least we know this will be Selah's last birthday without a loving family who will celebrate the day she was born.

  2. When we have needed help with encouraging embassies to issue long-waiting visas, attention from our senators' offices really did the trick.

  3. When we have needed help encouraging embassies to issue long-waiting orphan visas, the attention of our senators' offices has been very effective. We have gotten visas within 48 hours of word from the senator.

  4. Thanks amatta2 for the suggestion. We have used our senator's office before for USCIS issues... we had none this time with them. As a matter of fact they were great..the embassy in Ghana is another issue. Our senator tried to get help for us in Bulgaria and there was nothing they could do...It is a fine line because we risk getting them upset at us and taking even longer...so for now our children just wait and wait :(
