Today we are putting up the lights outside and finishing our decorations. We already decorated the house inside last week . We will make our annual outing to our Christmas tree farm. We walk lots and lots on a beautiful farm in the country. We try to "all" decide on the perfect tree and then come home and decorate it. Because this tree goes in our sunroom that has a 14-15 ft ceiling we always get a very tall tree....and need a ladder to decorate part of it. I am loving this season of Christmas this year... I know other families are doing some non tradition ways to celebrate but not us this year. My kids all have built up some of these traditions in just a short time with us and you can tell from their smiles how important it is for us to be doing some of this decorating , listening to Christmas music, baking, watching the movies and just some good old family times together. I never realized how special and important it is to build some of our own family traditons for the children who never had a functional family ( which is the case for most of our adopted children ). We are celebrating the birth of our Savior by lighting lots of Christmas lights this year both inside and out and hopefully in the hearts of our children....
What are some ways you decorate or celebrate? Anyone else out there have the itch to decorate early like we did ?

just can't do it before Thankgiving. We will be going to cut down our 6ft tree this weekend and decorate with christmas music in the background and hot chocolate. Family traditions: we do the advent calendar, eat Christmas cake and mince pies the morning of, make a cake for Jesus to sing happy birthday.
You have GREAT helpers there! Send a few down to Virginia to help me get my decorations out in the yard! :)
Looking good!

We started decorating this weekend. I love the lights and always hate when the season ends and we have to take them down. Being so far from family and missing them was my inspiration to start the season early.
I feel much the same way about establishing traditions for ours who never had any. Things they can count on year after year and look forward to after so many years of nothing to look forward to. The days around Thanksgiving...always our special time to get the house/yard decorated :) Blessings, Jennifer
