Happy Valentines Day

We did not all make it church... our road is not the best yet and we would have taken 3 vehicles to get us all there..not to mention Mya is not ready to go out yet... so the teenagers went with Joseph and Abraham and the younger ones stayed home. We celebrated with cinnamon rolls, fruit and hardboiled eggs... lunch was leftovers and dinner was meatball subs, fries, strawberries and pink milkshakes... and of course candy and cookies.... The kids made lots of cards and we had a good day....

Update on Mya # 6 ???? and I am tired of all of this

We got home this afternoon... the ambulance was called because our surgeon wanted her to be seen at the ER for running a very high fever for the 2 days.... Dr. Standard is wonderful and had been speaking with me from his phone each day... finally because when I gave her ibuprophen .. an hour and a half later it was going up... I have never had ibuprophen not work for fevers... he was worried about pneumonia from anesthesia... or post op anesthesia.... and wanted a chest xray... the problem was we could not get her out because our DOT has never plowed our roads since the first snow on the wknd....we live in a more rural area and got out Monday to get her to the hospital because of some tractors who had opened the roads... this last snow had blizzard winds and they could not control the drifts... so we had no option but to call 911.

They were wonderful and as Mya would share the ride was "bumpy" at best but they got her and me out... they did a chest xray, throat culture, urine sample and everything was negative... so they said either we had resolved the pneumonia because of our fast acting treatments or she had a virus ( something always said when they can't find anything wrong).. either way Keith, Mary Kate's husband picked us up at 11:30 last nite and we stayed with them ... because we could not go on our rodes . They just sent a plow out today for the first time..... and Paul got us in the Yukon... she is now home and still has the fever and we will see what it does this nite.... hopefully it will not go up as the last 2 days... her leg looks fine and everything else was fine as well. Thanks to our daughter, Molly who works at the ER we were well taken care of.... Mya was treated like a princess.... Thank you all for your prayers once again!

We have had other stuff going on here that I have not blogged about.... but I am ready for this week to end.

We are waiting for the ambulance to come and get us... Mya has been running a fever and it won't come down... 104. So the surgeon wants her seen at the ER....

Paul, a prisoner--- we are starting to feel like we are trapped in SNOW!

One of my devotions this am shared this and I instantly went to our 3d mega storm of the season and feeling like we are a prisoner held captive by snow!

My devotion shared about Paul's life in the Bible. He had been telling people about Jesus. This had angered religious leaders and they had him jailed. Many of those who had been blessed by his ministry were heartbroken. What a shame that this great man had been imprisioned--- preventing him from doing God's work..... Or was he? Paul did not waste the time God had given him as a prisoner. He wrote letters to encourage the churches. Now those letters are a vital part of the New Testament. They have encouraged churches and taught Christians throughout the ages.

Paul's work was more meaningful than he could have imagined... we need to remember this the next time we feel locked away by our circumstances. God has an eternal purpose for putting us where we are.....Thank you Jesus that in every real and symbolic prison, you are still working out your wonderful will.

I know that over the mega snow we had last wknd ( 30 some inches) I was fine until Mya got hurt... we could not get her out or an ambulance in until Monday am.... than we had to stay overnite as a patient because of the inability at the hospital to get a full OR staff in to do her surgery... then with another mega storm coming... starting Tuesday afternoon ( with up to 20 some inches on top of the already 30 some) it was decided if she did well enough we could go home... we left at 4 pm.... and did not get home until almost 9pm. Usually we can drive in 1 and a half to 2 hrs.... it was the most scary I have been in on the roads... and if I had known what we were going to be driving thru with her in the Yukon... I would have stayed even if it meant we were there until Sat....It was rough and unsafe driving.. it took us 2 hrs to get over the last mountain... which is a 2 minute drive over.... Fortunately she slept about 3 of the hrs... and I had all of her pain meds... but if we had slid or had any problems it would have put her in a situation I did not feel good about.... but as soon as we walked into our home... her countenance changed to such a sweet and happy little one... she was home where she wanted to be... aaghh how sweet it was for me as well. So the reward of what we had to endure was worth it because we were home.....

It sort of reminds me of our adoptions or anytime we have been called to something that was difficult... if we had known what we were going to have to endure I am not sure we would have been as obedient to walk that walk. However, after we have brought our child home or been able to do the impossible it does feel good to have persevered and done what we were called to do... "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." should be a motivating sound to our souls.

So if you are in our area and feeling like a prisoner of this snow as we watch yet another storm surround us with at least 20 more inches and winds up to 50 mph ...or you are experiencing a storm of another sort remember that God has an eternal purpose for putting us right where we are.....

Mya post op is doing well

Her surgery was delayed an hour and a half...but now she is done and we are back in her room. Her fixator looks good and all the bones are now fine. Her new bone growth in the femur is excellent. Her fixator is now on the lower part almost to her foot and the broken bone is stabilized... we are waiting to see how she does pain wise and all to see if we can leave. With another big snow coming Dr. Standard thinks we will do fine at home.... so hoping and praying we can leave in a few hours. It had already started to snow at home and we have to mountains to go over so we will see.....

update on Mya

We are at Sinai Hospital ... Mya was admitted and she does have a fractured tibia at the lower pin.... she is scheduled for surgery first thing in the am... Dr. Standard will remove that pin and add another ring to her fixator and add 2 or 3 more pins. She should be fine and this does not add anymore time to her wearing of the fixator. She is going to just have a bigger frame on for the rest of the time and her leg will heal while in it. The roads were terrible coming into Baltimore and they are extremely short staffed here.... the cafeteria also is shut down some so they only offer 1 choice for the kids meal and 1 for the room service for the parent... we are suppose to get another foot starting Wed. afternoon.... so if she is doing well we may try to come home... otherwise we will be here thru Friday and then again we are to get more significant snow on Sat.... I know I said I like snow but even I have had enough .

Paul left Mya and I tonite because of the coming weather and we don't want to leave the kids at home .... he is going to go to the store and buy some essentials....usually he is with me at the hospital so this is a first... and Mya was unhappy about Daddy leaving but she understood... they were also getting her Iv started.... now she is happy on the morphine.... yeah for those pain meds.....

Prayers please for Mya

Last nite Mya was standing in her walker by Andrew as he was jumping in a swing . He jumped so hard that he made it tip over onto Mya.. it hit her left leg and I am sure she has damaged her lower leg. The bottom pin was bleeding profusely and she has been unable to walk on it... Since we have so much snow - well over 30 inches there was no way we were getting her out or an ambulance in... praise God I was able to get the bleeding stopped and her comfortable. Actually she is on antibiotics and we have all the pain medicine and anxiety medicine. We are not doing pt until we can get her leg xrayed... but from her pain and inability to move her lower leg I do not have a good feeling about it...I have talked with our surgeon's secretary who is getting back to me about if we need to bring her in tonite or in the am... our roads are terrible and it is a 2 hr drive to Baltimore in good conditions. It took our daughter, Molly almost 3 hrs to get to work at the ER . Which is normally no more than 20 minutes drive on interstate 81... We did pay 60 dollars to someone to dig out our driveway so if we have to take her we can get out of our drive.. so please pray for Mya and what could be surgery Monday.... for now she is comfortable and we are doing as much as they could...thankfully we are prepared....

I spoke to Dr. Standard this afternoon... he agreed we were doing all we could for now and as long as she was comfortable it was better to go Monday am rather than venture out on our roads...I will splint her leg for the car ride and will find out in the am what has happened... thank you all for your prayers !
