Anna- 15 yrs. She has FAS and a severe cleft lip/palate. She also has esotropia( eyes going outward) and has had 2 surgeries to correct it. She has had 10 surgeries to correct her lip/palate and will be having a major jaw surgery in 2011.
Jacob- 19 yrs. He has scoliosis ( curvature of his spine) . When he came he had lost 50 percent of his lung capacity due to it. He had 107 degree curve... after 3 major spine surgeries his curve is in the 30 degree range. He had 2 metal rods placed in his back.
Josiah-11 yrs. ADHD but does well on medicine. He had kidney issues which turned out to be "double kidneys", and a kidney stone the size of a marble that had to be removed surgically.
Lily-11 yrs. Exotropia (crossing of the eyes), far sightedness and no depth perception. She has had surgery to correct her eyes and has worn glasses since she came home .
Isaac-13 yrs. Failure to thrive- he was the size of an 18 month old when he came home at 5 and a half- some issues with his hormones but corrected 18 months home by nutrition and being in a loving family, and non verbal all 5 and a half yrs since birth, ADHD. He was a child who was shutting down because of his experience in the orphanage.
Mya-8 yrs. Paralyzed on her l side - diagnosis after being home 1 yr is polio. She also was a failure to thrive baby- shutting down from being in the orphanage and not being cared for. They said she would have died had we not gotten her when we did...She has had lots of physical therapy and some serial casting and finally an external fixator to grow her femur ( her l leg was 5 cm shorter than her r leg ) and she now can walk without any afo or brace. She does wear a dynasplint on her l leg at nite to keep it straight.
