My momma's heart ached this am but rejoices as you learn- His Grace is sufficient

When some basic need is lacking- time, energy, money- consider yourself blessed. Your very lack is an opportunity to latch onto Me in unashamed dependence. When you begin a day with the inadequate resources you must concentrate your efforts on the present moment. This is where you are meant to live - in the present., it is the place where I always await you. Awareness of your inadequacy is a rich blessing, training you to rely wholeheartedly on Me.

The truth is that self-sufficiency is a myth perpetuated by pride and temporary success. Health and wealth can disappear instantly, as life itself. Rejoice in your insufficiency, knowing that My power is made perfect in weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, " My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

This is my Mya...She is 9 yrs old and adopted from Russia 8 yrs ago at the end of Jan. 2003. She was dying- failure to thrive and she was paralyzed on her l side and her r arm. From her court documents we know that her mom was very tiny too-never reaching even 5 ft. as an adult. She has had many surgeries, therapy and braces to help her to walk and she has overcome many negative things in her short life. She is pure Sonshine to all that meet her. She is a charmer in the best sense of the word and is usually a happy little girl.

But not this am....She is now 2 weeks post op on her knee surgery and she is now wearing a full leg brace that helps her to walk. She loves the benefit from the brace but today she was embarassed to go to Children's Church with it....and she broke down and cried. I decided to go with her and stayed the whole time. The pastor was very sensitive and creative with her and I think by next week she will be fine.

But my momma's heart hurt...no ached for my sweet little one today. I don't want her to feel different or challenged because of her leg that is weak from the polio....I love this devotion because I think it helps all of us to realize that no matter where we are lacking ( body, spirit or mind or even resources) we are to consider ourselves blessed by our weaknesses. When we realize we don't have adequate resources or a body that is different from others it can if we choose to make us rely or seek Jesus. This lack of something in our lives is an opportunity for us to latch onto Jesus without being ashamed. His Grace is sufficient becomes real to us during these times in our lives. Our awareness of this insufficiency is a rich blessing that can train us to rely wholeheartedly on Jesus.

Now my sweet Mya I desire that you can realize that His Grace is sufficient for you, that His Power is made perfect in your weakness, and that Christ's power can rest on you....maybe even tonite. You also know that the Lord has used your brace as an opportunity to share about all the Lord has done for you...It has given you a way to easily share about your story and you my dear have quite a story to tell. I have seen your smile return and your joy come thru as the day went on....I know that you are open to the Lord's will in your life and if I could I would not ever let you feel different because of your weakness but, I have seen you overcome your saddness many times and let the Lord shine thru.....I rejoice in your weakness and love you more for who you are... and I praise God for the blessing you are to all who have the chance to be in your life.

Let the weak say "I am strong!"

Often times kids don't know the correct pronunciation for certain words until Mom or Dad help them with it! What you did today for your little one was like helping her spiritually pronounce words that she wouldn't otherwise know how to pronounce herself!

A big amen on this post! She is a testimony to God's goodness!

Sending prayers to next Sunday for you all!

Mya is such a beautiful, brave little girl. Hope she takes to heart what you said about her crutches helping spread her testimony. :) What an awesome God we serve.
